Superfood Cookie Dough!?

Did someone say healthy cookie dough!??

I DID!!! Ok sista... I'm more than happy to raise my hand and admit I'm absolute cookie dough freak! Even as a young and innocent, pig-tailed 4 year old, I was always begging my Mum to bake cookies with me... so I could eat the batter!

Although my every-day diet is filled with fresh and healthy ingredients, this doesn't mean you have to miss out! I'm all about satisfying your cravings and eating in a way that is enjoyable AND maintainable! The other day I had the strongest craving for cookie dough. I was watching a cooking series on Netflix that showed the chefs needing dough and rolling out cookies. It was at that moment there... that I knew I needed to pause... and make myself a batch for truly #Netflix&chill

I'm no stranger to creating a healthy cookie dough or raw batter, but this time I wanted to give it a Sezzyfied, superfood spin! Sometimes I forget that my superfood powders aren't JUST for smoothies and smoothie bowls, you can literally add them to ANYTHING! Especially your healthy baking!

Now before you whip out your bowl, spatula and overly ripe bananas, let me just preface that I totally made this recipe up on the spot #storyofmylife

I re-wrote the recipe and method a day later soooo I'm kind of making the numbers up a little. I suggest using this as a rough guide, but using your taste buds, eyes and intuition to get the consistency and taste exactly right!

WHAT YOU'LL NEED:

  • 3 very ripe mashed bananas
  • 1 cup blanched almond meal (can use regular almond meal, however, blanched tastes better)
  • 1/2 tsp organic powdered ginger
  • 1 tsp organic vanilla bean powder
  • 1/4 cup agave nectar (I use the brand Loving Earth)
  • 1/2 tsp pink Himalayan salt
  • 1/4 cup cacao nibs
  • 3 Tbsp Maca Powder (I use the brand Tropeaka)
  • 1 Tbsp Camu Powder (I use the brand Tropeaka)
  • 2 Tbsp Chia Seeds
  • 1 flax egg (1 tbsp flax meal and 3 tbsp water. Let sit until absorbed)
  • 1 tbsp organic coconut oil (I use the brand Loving Earth)

This cookie dough tastes like a delicious, creamy, caramel, banana flavoured cake mix! The added Maca and Camu powder are incredible superfoods that boost immunity, encourage balanced hormones and provide sustained energy. We all know I'm a huge fan of Maca powder, however,r Camu powder is a relatively new powder I've integrated into my diet! I began including it in a lot of my smoothies and baking while trying to cure my CINIII (cervical dysplasia) as it is known to boost immunity and is thought to be THE highest source of vitamin C on the planet. WOW!

I ended up eating half the batter raw, then rolling the remaining half into balls, and baking in the oven on 180 degrees celsius, for around 25mins to make delicious banana cookies!
